Detectives Investigate Single-Vehicle Fatal Collision in Rockville

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department-Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Sunday, August 23 in Rockville.

On August 23 at approximately 1:53 p.m., 1st District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the area of Gruenther Avenue and McAuliffe Drive for the report of a single-vehicle collision.

Preliminary investigation indicated that a black Toyota Avalon left the roadway, struck a fence, and then struck a tree. The driver of the Avalon was transported to Suburban Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The initial investigation indicated that the driver may have suffered a medical event prior to the collision. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) has ruled the manner of death to be accidental from multiple Injuries suffered in the crash.

The driver of the Avalon is being identified as Arthur Levine, age 67, of the 300 block of Bradley Avenue in Rockville.
