For Immediate Release: Wednesday, August 26, 2015

Officers from the Montgomery County Police Department – Police Community Action Team (PCAT) have arrested Ramon Ramsey, age 23, of an unconfirmed address in Hyattsville, for possession of a handgun and possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.

On August 24 at approximately 10:15 p.m., Police Community Action Team officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Piney Branch Road and Manchester Road in Silver Spring. Officers identified Ramsey as a rear seat passenger and asked him to exit the car after he appeared to be trying to conceal something. Ramsey started to exit the vehicle when his shirt lifted up and officers saw a Taurus .357 caliber long-barrel handgun in his waistband. Ramsey was placed under arrest and officers found individually wrapped baggies of crack cocaine in Ramsey’s front pants pocket.

Ramsey was transported to the Central Processing Unit where he was charged with handgun offenses and possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance. Ramsey was ordered held without bond.
