Fatal Bicycle Collision in Bethesda

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal bicycle collision that occurred this morning in Bethesda.

At approximately 6:15 a.m., officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the 6000 block of Massachusetts Avenue for the report of a collision involving a vehicle and bicyclist.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a bicyclist, identified as Timothy Aloysius Holden, age 64, of the 5900 block of Carlton Lane in Bethesda, was traveling east on Massachusetts Avenue. A Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Ricardo Kenard Freeman, age 22, of the 1600 block of Meadowood Court in Edgewood, was also traveling east. For reasons still under investigation, the Malibu struck the bicycle. Holden succumbed to his injures at the scene.
