Detectives Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Collision

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department-Collision Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate a fatal collision that occurred today in Rockville.

at approximately 11:43 a.m., 4th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Norbeck Road and Westbury Road for the report of a serious collision.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2012 silver BMW 535i was making a left turn from eastbound Norbeck Road on to Westbury Road when it collided with a yellow 2005 Suzuki GSX-R motorcycle that was traveling westbound on Norbeck Road.

The operator of the motorcycle was transported to Medstar Montgomery Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. He is being identified as Jarret Thomas Harman, age 19,of the 19400 block of Rena Court in Brookeville.

The driver of the BMW is being identified as John Warren Fairbanks, age 83, of the 4700 block of Jasmine Drive in Rockville.  Mr. Fairbanks was not injured in the collision.

This collision remains under investigation. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed this collision to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620. Callers may remain anonymous.
