Police Seek Public’s Help to Identify an Armed Robbery Suspect

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Robbery Section are asking the public for help to identify a suspect in a commercial armed robbery in North Bethesda. Today, detectives are releasing a photograph of the suspect taken in the store.

On September 17 at approximately 10:00 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the Safeway store located at 5200 Randolph Road in North Bethesda for the report of an armed robbery. The investigation revealed that the suspect removed property from the store without paying and threatened the manager with a weapon when confronted. The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot towards the area of Parklawn Drive.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 40 years of age, 6’0” tall, and weighing 200 pounds. He is bald with a goatee. In the photograph taken at the time of the robbery, he was wearing a yellow shirt, khaki pants and a black backpack.
