Update: Suspect Arrested for Armed Robbery of Giant

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Robbery Section have arrested Mario Wells, age 35, of an unconfirmed address in Silver Spring, for the September 15 armed robbery of the Giant store located at 2900 University Boulevard West.

On September 29 detectives released surveillance photographs of the unidentified robbery suspect, (now identified as Wells), and asked for the public’s help in identifying him. Last night and into this morning, detectives received tips from several sources identifying Wells as the suspect involved in this armed robbery.

On September 30, Wells made contact with detectives and turned himself over to the police. Wells is charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of first-degree assault. Bond information for Wells is currently not available.

Detectives thank the media for publicizing this case and the public for providing information regarding this crime.
