Two Suspects Arrested for Series of Chevy Chase Residential Burglaries

Since October 13, detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 2nd District Investigative Section have been investigating a series of residential burglaries that occurred in the Chevy Chase area. These burglaries occurred during the daytime hours with entry into the homes made by breaking a rear sliding glass door or a basement window.

During the investigation, the victims' homes were processed for evidence.  Fingerprints recovered from the homes were submitted for analysis. Through that analysis, detectives received a fingerprint match that identified Eric A. Outlaw as the suspect in the burglaries.

On October 29, investigators in the area of the 3600 block of Shepherd Street in Chevy Chase (the same area as the prior burglaries) observed Outlaw and another subject, later identified as Stephon E. Jones, attempting to break into two residences. Outlaw and Jones were arrested.

On October 29, detectives charged Eric A. Outlaw, age 25, of the 1300 block of New York Avenue NE, Washington, DC, with committing three burglaries and attempting to commit three additional burglaries.

• October 13 – 7500 block of Tarrytown Road in Chevy Chase. Several items were taken from the residence.
• October 14 – 3900 block of Aspen Street in Chevy Chase. Several items were taken from the residence.
• October 20 – 3800 block of Blackthorn Street in Chevy Chase. Several items were taken from the residence.
• October 20 – Attempted residential burglary in the 4100 block of Blackthorn Street in Chevy Chase. Outlaw broke a rear window to the residence but was unable to gain entry.
• October 29 - Two attempted residential burglaries in the 3600 block of Shepherd Street in Chevy Chase.

Detectives charged Stephon E. Jones, age 26, of the 1900 block of 16th Street SE, Washington, DC, with attempting to commit two burglaries in the 3600 block of Shepherd Street while in the company of Outlaw.

Outlaw and Jones were transported to the Central Processing Unit and were charged with numerous crimes to include burglary, theft, and destruction of property. Outlaw is currently being held on a $50,000 bond and Jones was released after posting a $25,000 bond.
