Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit continue to
investigate a serious, hit-and- run collision involving a pedestrian that occurred last night on Route 29.
Today at approximately 11: 50 a.m., an insurance company called the Police Department and stated that the driver involved in the hit-and run collision was at their office. Detectives then responded to the office and interviewed the driver. The driver is identified as Sandra Regina Carvalho, age 53, of Ambrose Court in Burtonsville.
Due to the ongoing investigation, specific information provided by Carvalho in her statement to police will not be released at this time.
Carvalho provided officers with the location of the striking vehicle. The vehicle is a dark gray 2006 Honda Pilot. Officers have taken custody of that vehicle and are examining it for evidence.
The pedestrian remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
Investigators continue to urge anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about this collision to call Montgomery County Police at 301-279-8000.
