Detectives Charge Man With Home Invasion and Rape

For Immediate Release: Thursday, December 3, 2015

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police - Special Victims Investigation Division have charged Myles Joshua Bowersox, age 24, of the 13100 block of Midway Avenue in Rockville with home invasion, rape and sex offenses.

On November 16, at approximately 4:16 a.m., 1st District officers responded to the 5600 block of Dowgate Court in Rockville for the report of a home invasion and rape.

The investigation revealed that the 63-year-old victim was asleep in her bedroom when the suspect, now identified as Bowersox, entered the bedroom through an unlocked window. Bowersox pulled the victim’s shirt over her head so that she could not see him and sexually assaulted her. After the assault, he held a knife to the victim’s stomach and told her that he would come back and kill her if she reported the assault. Bowersox used the same window to flee from the bedroom.

Investigators recovered fingerprints from the scene and entered them into national database for analysis. On November 19, 2015, Montgomery County Police were notified that a fingerprint match was made identifying Myles Joshua Bowersox as the suspect involved in this crime.

Detectives obtained a warrant for Bowersox’s arrest charging him with rape offenses, sex offenses and home invasion. On December 2, investigators arrested Bowersox at his Rockville home on the strength of the arrest warrant. Bowersox was transported to the Central Processing Unit where he was ordered held without bond.
