Information for Media Outlets Covering Officer Noah Leotta’s Funeral Services Tomorrow (December 15)

The Department asks that media representatives read the following release in its entirety.

Members of the Leotta family do not wish to be photographed.

Timeline - Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 15, 2015

*Please note that all times are approximate.

• Funeral Service at Covenant Life Church – 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

• Procession departs from Covenant Life Church en route to Judean Memorial Gardens – 1:15 p.m.

• Procession arrives at Judean Memorial Gardens – 2:15 p.m.

Funeral Service

• 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

• Covenant Life Church, 7501 Muncaster Mill Road, Gaithersburg

• Media representatives are encouraged to arrive at the church early. Captain Paul Starks, Director of the Public Information Officer, and additional public information officers will be at the church by approximately 7:30 a.m.

• Media outlets will park in a parking lot designated for media. To enter the media parking lot, entering the church driveway from Muncaster Mill Road, make a right, and then make an immediate right into the media parking lot. There will be officers directing traffic.

• Videotaping, photography, and audio recording are NOT permitted in the church.

• Members of the media may attend the service – but, again, videotaping, photography, and audio recording are NOT permitted in the church.

Procession to the Memorial Gardens/Interment

• The procession will depart from the church at approximately 1:15 p.m. The procession will take approximately one hour to arrive at the Judean Memorial Gardens (located at 16225 Batchellors Forest Road in Olney).

• Following the service, the procession will take the following route to the Judean Memorial Gardens:
  
  
  • Travel southeast on MD 115 (Muncaster Mill Road)
  • Turn left onto Bowie Mill Road
  • Turn right onto Route 108 (Olney Laytonsville Road)
  • Turn right onto Georgia Avenue
  • Turn left onto Batchellors Forest Road

Interment

• Judean Memorial Gardens, 16225 Batchellors Forest Road, Olney

• Procession will arrive at the memorial gardens at approximately 2:15 p.m.

• Media vehicles will not be permitted in the memorial gardens. Media vehicles must stage in the curb lane of nortbound Georgia Avenue between the Intercounty Connector (ICC) and Emory Lane.

• Due to the wishes of Officer Noah Leotta’s family, media will not be permitted to videotape, photograph, or audio record on the memorial gardens property.

• Members of the media may attend the interment – but, again, videotaping, photography, and audio recording are not permitted.
