Detectives Investigate Attempted Armed Robbery and Stabbing in Gaithersburg – Police Ask for Public’s Help to Identify Suspect

Detectives from the 6th District Investigative Section are investigating an attempted armed robbery and stabbing that occurred on December 17 in Gaithersburg.

On Thursday, December 17 at approximately 1:27 p.m., 6th District officers responded to the parking lot outside of Macy’s at Lake Forest Mall located at 701 Russell Avenue for a report of a stabbing that had just occurred.

Investigation revealed that the 63-year-old female victim exited the mall by Macy’s and was near her vehicle when she was confronted by the suspect. The suspect demanded money from the victim and she refused to comply with his demands. The suspect then pushed the victim into her car, stabbed her multiple times, and fled from the parking lot of the mall.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5’5” tall and weighing between 150 and 180 pounds. At the time of the stabbing, he was wearing a dark blue hoodie.

Detectives are urging anyone who may have information regarding the suspect in this stabbing to contact the 6th District Investigative Section at 240.773.5770.
