Damascus Homicide Investigated

For Immediate Release: Monday, December 21, 2015

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division are investigating a homicide that occurred early this morning in Damascus.

On December 21 at approximately 12:38 a.m., the Emergency Communications Center (9-1-1) received a call for a shooting inside a residence in the 24600 block of Ridge Road. 5th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded and located an adult male on the main level of the home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the torso. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The suspect remained on the scene and was taken into custody by responding officers.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the 35-year-old male suspect were acquaintances and that the victim had been invited into the home earlier in the day. For reasons still under investigation, the suspect shot the victim after an argument occurred between the two men inside the home.

Detectives continue to investigate this homicide and the name of the victim will be released once family notifications have been made.
