For Immediate Release: Monday, December 21, 2015
Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 5th District Investigative Section have charged Cyril Atimos Doherty, age 18, of the 13000 block of Thyme Court in Germantown, with robbery, and are asking for the public’s help to identify his two accomplices.
On November 25 at approximately 4:39 p.m., 5th District officers responded to the Ride-On bus stop located at Clopper Road and Timko Lane in Germantown for the report of a robbery.
The investigation revealed that three victims, as well as the three suspects, (one of the suspects who was later identified as Doherty), were passengers on a Ride-On bus that stopped at Clopper Road and Timko Lane. All of the victims and suspects exited the bus at that location. Doherty approached one of the victims and demanded that the victim open his bag; the victim was able to flee from the area and call 9-1-1. Another suspect then assaulted a second victim and stole property from him. Doherty and the other two suspects also stole property from a third victim before fleeing.
The victims provided responding officers with a description of all three suspects and officers observed Doherty, who matched one of the suspect’s descriptions, in the immediate area of the robbery. Doherty was arrested; however, the remaining two suspects were not located.
Doherty was transported to the Central Processing Unit where he was charged with robbery offenses. He was released after posting a $10,000 bond.
The first unidentified suspect is described as a black male and approximately 18 to 22 years old. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a grey sweatshirt with orange sleeves and grey sweatpants.
The second unidentified suspect is described as a black male and approximately 18 to 22 years old. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black jacket and tan pants.
Detectives are releasing photographs of the two unidentified suspects and are asking anyone who has information about these two suspects or this robbery to call the Montgomery County Police – 5th District Investigative Section at 240-773-6237. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County at 240-773-TIPS (8477) or Text-A-Tip to: CRIMES (274637), text MCPD and your crime tip.
