Suspicious Death in Rockville Investigated as a Homicide

Homicide detectives from the Montgomery County Police - Major Crimes Division, are investigating the death of an adult male in Rockville.  This death is being investigated as a homicide.

At approximately 12:04 a.m., on January 21, 1st District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to a wooded area in the 5400 block of Randolph Road for the report of an injured subject.  First responders observed a burning tent, extinguished the fire, and located a deceased, male victim, who had been in the fire.

The victim's identity has not been confirmed.  The victim's body will be transported to Baltimore where the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy.

This active investigation is still in its preliminary stages; additional information will be released as it is confirmed.
