Detectives Investigate Serious Collision in Rockville

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department-Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a serious collision that occurred this afternoon in Rockville.

Today at approximately 2:31 p.m., 4th District officers and Fire&Rescue personnel responded to the 4300 block of Sunflower Drive for the report of a vehicle that struck a vehicle and a residential garage.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a blue, 2003 Chevy Impala was traveling westbound on Hannans Way when for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle accelerated and drove onto the driveway of a home in the 4300 block of Sunflower Drive. The Impala struck an unoccupied vehicle in the driveway which forced both vehicles into the garage of the home.

The driver of the Impala is being identified as Earl Robert Toense, age 92, of the 15000 block of Hannans Way in Rockville. Toense was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
