Detectives Investigate Attempted Bank Robbery in Silver Spring; Suspects Linked to DC Bank Robbery

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division continue to investigate an attempted bank robbery that occurred on January 27 at a Capital One Bank in Silver Spring.  The same two suspects are believed to have attempted to rob a bank in Washington, D.C., approximately one hour before attempting to rob the bank in Silver Spring.

On January 27 at approximately 2:30 p.m., the two suspects entered the Capital One Bank located at 8676 Georgia Avenue.  The first suspect approached the teller window and passed a note that demanded money.  The second suspect also approached the teller window and served as a lookout.  The two suspects fled from the bank before obtaining any money.

Detectives believe that approximately one hour prior to this bank robbery, the same two suspects attempted to rob the BB&T Bank located at 3101 14th Street NW in Washington, D.C.

Detectives are releasing surveillance photographs of the two suspects and are asking that anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspects to contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of these suspects. Tipsters will remain anonymous.
