Police Investigate Single Vehicle Collision on Emory Lane

The Montgomery County Police Department - Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a single-vehicle collision that occurred last night on Emory Lane.

On Wednesday, March 16 at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers attempted to stop a light- colored, 2011, Toyota Camry on southbound Layhill Road north of Georgia Avenue.

The driver refused to stop, continued on southbound Layhill Road, and turned north on Georgia Avenue.  The driver then continued north on Georgia Avenue. As the driver approached the Olney area, the driver turned west on Emory Lane.

On Emory Lane, officers slowed and lost sight of the vehicle.  When officers crossed the Intercounty Connector (ICC), they located the Toyota off the roadway and engulfed in flames. Officers removed the three occupants, two adult males and one adult female, from the car, and took them to safety.

The adult male driver was transported to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries. The front seat passenger, an adult female, and the rear seat passenger, an adult male, were transported to a local trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries.

This collision remains under investigation.
