Detectives Charge Two Suspects with Armed Carjacking

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, April 6, 2016

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department - Major Crimes Division have charged Kenneth Bloomfield, age 20, of the 4200 block of Southern Avenue in Southeast, Washington, D.C., and Elliot Davon Jacobs, age 23, of the 4500 block of Benning Road in Southeast, Washington D.C., with an armed carjacking that occurred in Silver Spring on Monday night.

On April 4 at approximately 10:30 p.m., 3^rd District officers responded to First Avenue in Silver Spring for the report of an armed carjacking that had just occurred.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the 32-year-old female victim parked her 2003 BMW 325 Ci in the 8700 block of First Avenue.  The victim exited her car and was in the process of removing items from the vehicle when she was confronted by two suspects, later identified as Bloomfield and Jacobs.  Jacobs demanded her car keys and grabbed them out of her hand. Bloomfield told the victim not to scream and that she had ten seconds to walk away or that he would “pop her”.  Jacobs and Bloomfield then fled in the victim’s vehicle.

Officers provided surrounding jurisdictions with the vehicle’s information and also placed the stolen car information into a national law enforcement database.

At approximately 12:14 a.m., on April 5, the Metropolitan Police Department notified the Montgomery County Police Department that its officers had located the vehicle in Northeast, D.C., and had arrested two suspects, now identified as Bloomfield and Jacobs.

Montgomery County Police investigators obtained arrest warrants for Bloomfield and Jacobs charging them with one count each of armed carjacking, armed robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, theft: $1,000-$10,000, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, first-degree assault, and second degree assault.

Bloomfield and Jacobs are currently incarcerated in Washington, D.C., pending extradition to Montgomery County.
