Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating an armed carjacking that occurred last night in Hillandale.

On April 14 at approximately 9:10 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the Episcopal Church of Our Savior located at 1700 Powder Mill Road for the report of an armed carjacking.

The investigation revealed that the 76-year-old victim had exited the church to the parking lot when she noted an unknown male walking in the parking lot.  The victim entered her vehicle and started her car.  The unknown suspect approached the vehicle and opened the driver’s side door.  He demanded money from the victim and shoved an object into her stomach, implying he had a handgun.  The victim told the suspect that she did not have any money.  The suspect then grabbed the victim’s arm, pulled her from the vehicle, and threw her to the ground.  The suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle (a 2008 Limited Edition, metallic grey, Toyota Highlander with Maryland tag: 00014M9. There is a scratch on the driver’s side of the rear bumper).

The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Fire & Rescue personnel.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30’s, approximately 5’6” to 5’08’ tall, and weighing between 150 and 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark shirt and khaki pants.
