Update: Death at Rockville Red Roof Inn Ruled a Homicide

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police - Major Crimes Division are continuing to investigate the death of an adult at the Red Roof Inn located at 16001 Shady Grove Road in Rockville.  The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide.

On Saturday, April 16 at approximately 11:49 a.m., Fire and Rescue personnel and officers from the 1st District and Rockville City Police Department responded to the report of a death at the Rockville Red Roof Inn.  Upon arrival, first responders located the victim deceased in a hotel room; there was trauma to the victim's upper body.

The victim was initially identified as Kenneth Anthony Blakeney, age 22.  Detectives have determined that the victim identified herself as a transgender female named Keyonna.

Investigators believe that Keyonna was assaulted and killed in her hotel room in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 16.  Detectives have information that Keyonna may have been engaging in prostitution at the Red Roof Inn during that time.

Detectives are urging anyone who may have information regarding the murder of Keyonna to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240.773.5070.
