This afternoon, May 6, the Montgomery County Police Department arrested
Eulalio Tordil, age 62, of Adelphi, Maryland, for two Montgomery County shooting incidents that occurred today and involved four victims; two of whom succumbed to their injuries.
At approximately 11:13 a.m., an off-duty officer at Westfield Montgomery Mall, located at 7101 Democracy Boulevard in Bethesda, used his police radio to inform the dispatcher and other officers that a shooting had just occurred in the mall's parking lot near the Macy's store at the Westlake Drive entrance. Additional officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded and located three shooting victims - two adult males and one adult female. All victims were transported to a local hospital. One of the adult male victims succumbed to his injuries. The other two victims remain in the hospital; the second male victim is currently in critical condition and the female victim is currently in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
At approximately 11:50 a.m., the Emergency Communications (911) Center received a call for the report of a shooting in the parking lot at the Giant grocery store located at 13781 Connecticut Avenue in Aspen Hill. Officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded. The victim, an adult female, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Officers who had responded to the shootings were aware of the wanted suspect, Eulalio Tordil, and the vehicle involved in yesterday's homicide outside of a high school in Prince George's County. The officers responding to the Aspen Hill shooting observed a vehicle that matched the description and tag number parked in the Northgate Shopping Center located at 3901 Aspen Hill Road. Plain clothes officers observed Tordil in a business in the shopping center and began surveillance. When Tordil returned to his vehicle at approximately 2:48 p.m., the officers took him into custody without incident. He is currently being interviewed by detectives and charges are pending.
This Department is coordinating with the Prince George's County Police Department regarding their investigation of Tordil and his involvement in a shooting outside of High Point High School in Beltsville yesterday.
The identities of today's homicide victims will be released once family members are notified. The surviving victims will not be identified at this time as they are witnesses. At this stage of the investigation, it is not known if there is any connection between today's victims and Tordil.
This investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released once it is confirmed. Anyone with information regarding these shootings or Tordil is asked to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
