Detectives Investigate Rockville Bank Robbery; Video of Suspect Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division are investigating a bank robbery that occurred on June 2 at a bank in Rockville.

On June 2 at approximately 11:55 a.m., 1st District officers responded to the SunTrust Bank located at 14939 Shady Grove Road for a report of a bank robbery. Investigation by detectives revealed that the suspect entered the bank, approached a teller, and passed a note that threatened the teller.  The suspect's note also implied that he had an explosive device and would detonate it if he did not receive any money.  The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled from the bank.

Today, detectives are releasing photographs and surveillance video of the bank robbery suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.  The suspect has a tattoo on his right forearm that can be seen in the video and a photograph.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is asked to contact the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.  To be eligible for a reward, tipsters may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of this suspect. Tipsters will remain anonymous.
