Detectives Seek Public’s Help to Identify Assault and Theft Suspect; Photographs Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – 1st District Investigative Section continue to investigate the assault of a Safeway grocery store employee during the commission of a theft from that Safeway.   Today, detectives are releasing surveillance photographs of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help to identify him.

On Saturday, May 28 at approximately 10:45 p.m., the suspect entered the Safeway located at 1800 Rockville Pike in Rockville.  He went behind the counter, pried open a cigarette case, and stole approximately 60 packs of cigarettes.  The suspect threatened a Safeway employee with a knife and swung the knife at him.  The suspect then fled from the Safeway on a tan bicycle toward the Twinbrook Metro Station.

Anyone who has information about the suspect or this incident is asked to call the Montgomery County Police – 1st District Investigative Section at 240-773-6084.
