Bethesda Auto Theft and Burglary Investigated; Video Surveillance of Suspects Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department - 2nd District Investigative Section are asking for the public's help to identify two suspects who are believed to have stolen a car in Bethesda and then committed a school burglary approximately one hour later in Chevy Chase.

On June 23 between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., a silver BMW 328i was stolen from a residential driveway located in the 9800 block of Raleigh Tavern Court.  The vehicle key had been left in the vehicle and the doors were left unlocked. The Police Department reminds residents to remove all valuables and keys from their unoccupied vehicles and lock all vehicle doors.

Later that evening, officers responded to the report of a burglary at the Lycee Rochambeau-French International School located at 3200 Woodbine Street in Chevy Chase.  A first-floor classroom window had been broken and 25 Apple iPads had been stolen.  The total value of the stolen iPads is approximately $7,500.

The stolen BMW was located in Washington, D.C. on June 24When Montgomery County detectives searched the inside of the recovered car, they located discarded clothing that was similar to clothing worn by one of the suspects during the commission of the school burglary.

Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes the suspects from the surveillance video or anyone who has information about these two crimes to please call the 2nd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6700.  For those who wish to remain anonymous, Crime Solvers of Montgomery County is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspect(s).
