2016 National Night Out Events - Tuesday, August 2

The 2016 National Night Out annual observance will take place on Tuesday, August 2. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), is designed to generate neighborhood support and participation in crime prevention efforts and to enhance police and community relations. Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, many communities celebrate with a variety of events to help neighbors get to know one another and to build community spirit. This will be the 33^rd year of National Night Out observances that demonstrate a community’s commitment to keep their neighborhood free from crime.

The following communities have provided their respective itinerary of events as of 7/24/16:

1^st District:

Open to the General Public:

NOTE THE LOCATION CHANGE (7/28/2016):

1. Montgomery County Recreation Department Administrative Office at 4010 Randolph Road.; 7-9 p.m. (This event is held jointly with the 4^th District command staff and officers also attending.)

Community Events:

1. Quince Orchard Knolls Park at 11900 Quince Mill Dr.; 6:30 – 8 p.m.
2. Twinbrook Baptist Church at 1001 Twinbrook Pkwy.; 6 – 8:30 p.m.
3. David Scull Community Center at 1251 First St.; 6 p.m. - no specified end time

2^nd District:

Community Events:

1. Lyttonsville/Rosemary Hills/Rock Creek communities held at Gwendolyn E. Coffield Community Center at 2450 Lyttonsville Rd.: approx. 6:15 – 8:30 p.m.
2. Scotland community in Potomac at the intersection of Seven Locks Rd. and Scotland Dr.; approx. 6 – 8 p.m.
3. Naval Support Activity Bethesda (formerly Navy Med) at 8901 Wisconsin Avenue 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
4. Wyngate Community at North Bethesda Middle School, 8935 Bradmoor Dr.; 7:30 - 10 p.m.
5. Kensington Fire Department, St. Paul Park at Plyers Mill Rd. and St. Paul St., 5 - 8 p.m.

3^rd District:

Open to the General Public:

1. Briggs Chaney Community Event at East County Regional Services Center at 3300 Briggs Chaney Rd.; 6 – 9 p.m.

1. Forest Estates General Getty Park, 10000 Woodland Ave.; 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
2. South Four Corners at South Four Corners Neighborhood Park (renamed) Forest Glen Rd.; 7 - 8 p.m.
3. McKenney Hills/Carroll Knolls at Kohler Ct.; 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
4. West Hillandale Swim Club at 915 Schindler Dr.; 5 – 7 p.m.
5. Hampshire West Apts. at 1432 Hampshire West Ct. (pool area); 5 - 8 p.m.
6. Fairland Estates Civic Assoc. at 13000 block of Colefair Dr.; 6 – 8:30 p.m.
7. Oakview Community at end of Braddock Rd. in the cul-de-sac, 7 – 8:30 p.m.
