Officers from the Montgomery County Police Department – Police Community Action Team (PCAT) have charged Deandre Thomas, age 21, of the 23600 block of Willshaw Square in Ashburn, Virginia, with firearm, drug, and counterfeit currency charges, and have charged Marcus Harris, age 23, of the 20300 block of Farmgate Terrace in Ashburn, Virginia, with drug-related charges following a traffic stop in Colesville.

On September 14 at approximately 11:15 p.m., a PCAT officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding in the area of East Randolph Road and Kara Lane.  Harris was identified as the driver and Thomas was identified as the front seat passenger.  A K9 was called to assist and scan the exterior of the vehicle.  The K9 alerted officers to the presence of drugs inside the car.  During the search of the vehicle, officers located a loaded Ruger .45 handgun under the passenger seat where Thomas had been sitting. Officers found approximately a quarter pound of suspected marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle.

Harris and Thomas were arrested and transported to the Central Processing Unit (CPU).  While at CPU, officers found that Thomas was in possession of a counterfeit $100 bill.  Officers notified agents from the United Stated Secret Service regarding the counterfeit currency.  Thomas is being held on a $15,000 bond.   Harris was released after posting a $2,600 bond.
