Detectives Investigate Serious Pedestrian Collision in Rockville

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a collision involving a pedestrian that occurred last night (October 4) in Rockville.

On Tuesday, October 4 at approximately 7:16 p.m., 1st District officers, Rockville City officers, and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the area of Rockville Pike (MD 355) and E. Middle Lane for the report of a collision.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2001 Honda Accord, driven by Raphael Olegario, age 43, of the 4200 block of East West Highway in Chevy Chase, was traveling south on Rockville Pike.  A pedestrian, identified as Marchelle Lindsey Edwards, age 28, of the 13400 block of Duchin Road in Germantown, was crossing Rockville Pike in a western direction at E. Middle Lane when she was struck by the Honda.

Marchelle Edwards was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision, to include what the traffic signal indicated at the time of the collision and whether the pedestrian was in the area of the crosswalk.
