Detectives Investigate Serious Collision in Wheaton

For Immediate Release: Friday, October 7, 2016

On Thursday, October 6 at approximately 7:28 p.m., 4th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the area of Georgia Avenue and Dawson Avenue for the report of a serious collision involving a pedestrian.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2010 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by Joseph Clinton Watson, age 65, of the 2900 block of Newcastle Avenue in Silver Spring, was traveling south on Georgia Avenue.  The pedestrian, identified as Elmer Enrique Santos Milla, age 26, of the 11500 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, was not in a marked crosswalk and crossing Georgia Avenue, heading in a western direction near Dawson Avenue when he was struck by the Suburban.

Milla was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.  Alcohol use on the part of Milla is being investigated as a factor in this collision.  Watson was not injured in the collision.
