Serious Pedestrian Collision Investigated; Police Ask For Help in Identifying Pedestrian

Update: October 18, 2016 (11:10 a.m.) - The pedestrian has been identified as Pedro Mendoza, age 54, of Gilbert Road in Rockville.  Mendoza remains in grave condition at a local hospital.



Detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a serious personal injury collision involving a pedestrian that occurred in Rockville last night.  Investigators are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the pedestrian.



On Sunday, October 16, at approximately 8:50 p.m., 4th District officers and  Fire and Rescue personnel responded to Norbeck Road (Route 28) and Baltimore Road in Rockville for the report of a pedestrian collision.  Preliminary investigation has revealed that Jum Soon Kim of Burtonsville, was operating a 1999 Acura Integra eastbound on Norbeck Road.  As Kim was traveling through the intersection of Baltimore Road, she struck a pedestrian crossing Norbeck Road on the east side of the intersection.  The adult male pedestrian, who has yet to be identified, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  The pedestrian remains unconscious.



Detectives continue to investigate this collision and need the public's assistance in identifying the pedestrian, described as a Hispanic male who is possibly 35 - 45 years old.  Anyone with information regarding this collision or the pedestrian's identity is asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240.773.6620.
