Father Charged with Child Neglect; PCP and Xanax Found in 20-Month-Old Daughter’s System

For Immediate Release: Friday, October 21, 2016

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Special Victims Investigations Division have charged Jayson Hall, age 38, of the 13600 block of Demetrius Way in Germantown, with child neglect and the reckless endangerment of his 20-month-old daughter after PCP and Xanax were found in the toddler’s system.

On Wednesday, October 19 at approximately 6:47 p.m., detectives were notified by medical personnel at Adventist Healthcare Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville that the 20-month-old victim was brought to the hospital in serious condition after becoming unresponsive at home.  Detectives were further told that a blood test completed at the hospital revealed that PCP and Xanax were in the child’s system.

Detectives spoke with the victim’s mother, who stated that she was at work when she received a call from her 13-year-old son stating that the victim was unresponsive.    The mother said that she immediately came home and found that her daughter was not breathing.  The mother called 9-1-1 while a neighbor performed CPR on the victim until Fire and Rescue personnel arrived.   The victim’s father, now identified as Hall, was home during this time.

The mother further stated to detectives that prior to leaving for work, she noticed a bottle of pills sitting on a coffee table.  The mother told investigators that she asked Hall to move the pills to a location where the victim would not have access to them.    The mother said she left the victim in Hall’s care, believing he would move the pill bottle, and went to work.

Hall was arrested and transported to the Central Processing Unit where he was charged with neglect of a minor, reckless endangerment, and contributing to a condition which rendered the victim in need of supervision.  Hall was released after posting a $10,000 bond.
