Brookeville Resident Grazed by Apparent Projectile; Detectives Investigate as Possible Hunting Accident

For Immediate Release: Saturday, October 22, 2016

Today at approximately 12:40 p.m., an 87-year-old resident of the 3800 block of Elton Farm Road in Brookeville was walking up a hill on his property to his house when he heard what sounded like a gunshot and was struck on his head by an unknown object.

The resident was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. At the hospital, a small metallic projectile was recovered from the victim’s head.

Montgomery County Police officers and Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) officers canvassed the area but did not locate anyone.

Detectives believe that the projectile might have unintentionally come from a hunter, as the resident’s property is adjacent to public land and is an area frequented by hunters.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the 5th District Investigative Section at 240-773-6327.
