Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder in Germantown Stabbings

For Immediate Release: Monday, October 24, 2016

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 5th District Investigative Section have charged Da’Von Mobley, age 26, of the 18900 block of Grotto Lane in Germantown, with attempted murder after he stabbed two known acquaintances yesterday evening in Germantown.  Investigators have also charged Mobley with the theft of a vehicle that he stole as he fled from the scene of the stabbings.

On Sunday, October 23 at approximately 8:07 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a 9-1-1 call reporting that two people had just been stabbed inside of a residence in the 13300 block of Kilmarnock Way.  Officers from the 5th District responded to the scene and located an adult male victim and an adult female victim outside of the home.  Both victims were suffering from stab wounds to their upper bodies.  The victims told the officers that the suspect had been in the residence earlier but had been asked by them to leave.  Approximately fifteen minutes after the suspect left the residence, he forced entry into the home through the front door and stabbed both of the victims.  The suspect then fled from the home.  Fire and Rescue personnel transported the two victims to an area hospital.  The male had life-threatening injuries and the female had serious injuries.

While officers were investigating the stabbing, they were approached by a resident who reported that her white 2007 Dodge Caliber, which had been parked in the 17700 block of Kilmarnock Way, was now missing.   Officers observed the Caliber driving on Kilmarnock Way and attempted to the stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop.  Officers pursued the Caliber to the area of the 17700 block of Cricket Hill Drive, where the Caliber left the roadway, traveled into a tree line, and stopped.  The driver of the Caliber then fled from the vehicle on foot.

A perimeter was established and the suspect, now identified as Mobley, was located with the assistance of MCP canines and the Maryland State Police helicopter in the 13700 block of Charity Court.

Mobley was transported to the Central Processing Unit where he was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, home invasion, first-degree burglary, reckless endangerment, and theft of a motor vehicle.  Mobley is currently being held without bond.
