Detectives Investigate Hate-Based Vandalism to Quince Orchard High School Football Field; Surveillance Photo Released

For Immediate Release: Thursday, October 27, 2016

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 1st District Investigative Section continue to investigate a hate-based vandalism to the Quince Orchard High School football field located at 15800 Quince Orchard Road in North Potomac.  Today, investigators are releasing a surveillance photograph of a suspect vehicle that was seen on school property the night before the crime was discovered and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver and/or owner of that vehicle.

On Thursday, October 13, a Montgomery County Police School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Quince Orchard High School was contacted by school administrative staff who reported that a part of the school’s football field had been vandalized.   The SRO’s investigation determined that a caustic substance was used to create a swastika and images of male genitalia on the grass of the football field.

The SRO reviewed the school’s surveillance system and observed that shortly after midnight on October 13, the suspect vehicle was seen driving into the school parking lot.  After the vehicle parked, a car door opened.  A short time later, the vehicle can be seen exiting the school parking lot.

The vehicle is described as a dark colored, mid-size, four-door sedan.  On the surveillance video, the driver’s side headlight appears to be brighter than the passenger side headlight indicating that the driver’s side headlight may be misaligned.

The Montgomery County Police Department has been in contact with the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington and The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington about this incident.

Anyone with information about this vandalism and/or the suspect vehicle is asked to contact the 1st District Investigative Section at 240-773-6084.  For those who wish to remain anonymous, Crime Solvers of Montgomery County is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspect(s).  Tipsters can call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
