Detectives Investigate Hate-Based Vandalism to Burning Tree Elementary School

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 2nd District Investigative Section are investigating a hate-based vandalism to the Burning Tree Elementary School located at 7900 Beech Tree Road in the Westlake area of Bethesda.  The vandalism was discovered yesterday morning.

On Sunday, October 30 at approximately 10:00 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to the Burning Tree Elementary School for the report of a vandalism to the school.  A Jewish congregation holds weekly services at the school, and a congregate who was attending a service that morning discovered that images of swastikas and male genitalia had been spray painted on a Burning Tree Elementary School banner displayed near the school entrance.

Anyone with information about this vandalism and/or the suspect(s) is asked to contact the 2nd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6710.  For those who wish to remain anonymous, Crime Solvers of Montgomery County is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspect(s).  Tipsters can call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
