Detectives Continue to Investigate Death as Homicide in Gaithersburg Area; Asking for Public's Help to Identify Victim

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the Saturday, November 12 discovery of a body found in a shallow grave in a wooded area in the 11500 block of Game Preserve Road.  Today, detectives are announcing that they are investigating this death as a homicide and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the victim.

On Saturday, November 12 at approximately 4:27 p.m., 6th District officers responded to the 11500 block of Game Preserve Road for the report of a body that had been found by hikers.  In the woods, responding officers located a shallow grave that contained the body.  The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore continues to investigate the cause and manner of the person's death.

The victim is described as a Hispanic male, believed to be in his late teens to early twenties, and approximately 5'6" tall.  The Medical Examiner's Office believes it is possible that the victim has been in the woods since the late summer of 2016.  Detectives are releasing representative photos of the shirt and size 8 Aldo shoes that the male was wearing when he was discovered in the woods.
