Detectives Investigate Serious Single-Vehicle Collision in Bethesda

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a serious single-vehicle collision that occurred this morning in Bethesda.

Today, at approximately 9:04 a.m., 2nd District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to 8015 Whittier Boulevard for the report of a serious collision.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2003 Buick Century was making a left turn from eastbound Whittier Court onto northbound Whittier Boulevard when for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree that was located in front of 8015 Whittier Boulevard.  After striking the tree, the Buick then rolled onto its driver’s side.

The driver and sole occupant of the Buick was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  She is being identified as Audrey Sloope Bell, age 93, of the 8000 block of Whittier Boulevard.
