Detectives Seek Public’s Help to Identify Commercial Robbery Suspect; Surveillance Video Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the December 5 robbery of the designer sunglass and eyeglass store “ILORI” in Friendship Heights.  Today, investigators are releasing target="_blank">surveillance video of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying her.

On Monday, December 5 at approximately 5:36 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the ILORI store located at 5530 Western Avenue for the report of the robbery that had just occurred.

The investigation by detectives revealed that the suspect, entered the ILORI store and immediately pepper sprayed a store employee.  The suspect then stole five Chanel sunglasses having a total value of $3,600 from a display case and fled from the store.  The suspect was last seen on foot southbound on Wisconsin Avenue into Washington, D.C.  The store employee who was pepper sprayed by the suspect stated to detectives that she recognized the suspect as having been in the store on December 3 and described the suspect as a male presenting as a female, possibly a transgender female.  On December 3, the suspect was asked to leave the store due to concerns that the suspect was attempting to steal items from the store.
