Detectives Investigate Serious Pedestrian Collision in Wheaton

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a serious collision involving a pedestrian that occurred today in Wheaton.

On January 15 at approximately 11:49 a.m., 4th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Reedie Drive for the report of a pedestrian- involved collision.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2007 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Kevin Arias, age 21, of the 10900 block of Amherst Avenue in Wheaton, was traveling north on Georgia Avenue.  A pedestrian, identified as Consuelo Mary Anglarill, age 82, of the 2100 block of Bonnywood Lane in Silver Spring, was crossing Georgia Avenue in a western direction at Reedie Drive when she was struck by the Impala.

Anglarill was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision, to include what the traffic signal indicated at the time of the collision and whether the pedestrian was in the area of the crosswalk.
