Detectives Investigate Theft of $12,000 Worth of Clothing from Bethesda Store; Surveillance Video Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 2nd District Investigative Section continue to investigate the January 5 theft of approximately $12,000 worth of clothing from the True Religion clothing store located within the Westfield Montgomery mall in Bethesda.  Today, investigators are releasing surveillance video of the five suspects and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.

On Thursday, January 5 at approximately 7:09 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the True Religion store located at 7101 Democracy Boulevard for the report of a theft and an assault on a store employee that had just occurred.

The investigation by detectives revealed that three male suspects and two female suspects, four of whom were carrying empty garbage bags, entered the True Religion store and immediately began to fill the bags with clothes from a display area.  The suspects then fled from the store.  A store employee who attempted to stop the suspects from leaving was assaulted by a female suspect as she fled.  The suspects were last seen leaving the mall through a loading dock door.
