Detectives Investigate Commercial Burglary in Kensington; Surveillance Video Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 2nd District Investigative Section continue to investigate the February 6 commercial burglary of the Five Guys restaurant in Kensington.  Today, detectives are releasing  target="_blank">surveillance video and photographs of the suspects and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.

On Monday, February 6 at approximately 5:25 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to the Five Guys restaurant located at 10510 Connecticut Avenue for a burglary that had just been discovered by an employee arriving to open the business.

Investigators reviewed restaurant video surveillance and determined that the suspects entered the rear door at approximately 3:56 a.m.  One suspect is observed using a power tool to cut a hole in the restaurant’s safe.  The suspects obtained cash from the safe and fled from the restaurant.

Detectives believe that these two suspects may also be responsible for additional commercial burglaries that have occurred recently in the Aspen Hill and Rockville areas during which safes were cut open using a power tool:

  • On January 16, 4th District officers responded to a burglary at the Jerry’s Subs and Pizza restaurant located at 13645 Connecticut Avenue.
  • On February 4, 4th District officers responded to a burglary that occurred to a Wingstop restaurant located at 13633 Connecticut Avenue.
  • On February 9, Rockville City Police Department officers responded to a burglary that occurred at a Crisp & Juicy restaurant located at 1331 Rockville Pike.

Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment of the suspects.  Tipsters will remain anonymous.
