Detectives Investigate Silver Spring 7-Eleven Armed Robbery; Surveillance Video Released

For Immediate Release: Thursday, February 23, 2017

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the February 11 armed robbery of a 7-Eleven convenience store in Silver Spring.  Today, investigators are releasing surveillance video of the three suspects and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.

On Saturday, February 11 at approximately 3:15 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 7-Eleven located at 8619 16th Street for the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

The investigation by detectives revealed that an adult male employee was in the 7-Eleven office when the three suspects entered the store.  The employee, upon hearing the suspects enter, exited the office and observed that one suspect was behind the counter and had removed the drawers from two cash registers. Another suspect, who was armed with a handgun, confronted the employee and instructed him to return to the office.  The employee complied with the suspect’s order and all three suspects then fled from the 7-Eleven.

The suspects can be seen on store surveillance video entering a dark colored four-door sedan that was parked in front of the store.  The vehicle left the parking lot of the 7-Eleven and was last seen traveling on 16th Street toward Georgia Avenue.

Anyone with information regarding these suspects or this armed robbery is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case.
