ATF and MCP Investigate Burglary at Rockville Gun Store; Reward for Information

For Immediate Release: Thursday, March 9, 2017

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are investigating a burglary that occurred early this morning at the United Gun Shop located at 5465 Randolph Road. During the burglary, handguns and long guns were stolen.  MCPD and the ATF are releasing surveillance video of the burglary suspects and a reward for information is being offered in this case.

This morning at approximately 3:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to the United Gun Shop on Randolph Road for a commercial alarm.  Officers arrived at the store and discovered the front door pried open and glass display cases that had been smashed.  The suspects had already fled.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the two suspects used crowbars to open the front door of the business.  They entered the store, smashed the glass display cases using crowbars, and removed guns from display cases and shelves.

At this time, it is believed that suspects stole approximately 24 handguns and 7 long guns.  Detectives and ATF investigators continue to work with the store owner to determine the precise number and types of firearms that were stolen.   The store video surveillance shows that the suspects were in the store for approximately 90 seconds.  Investigators believe that the suspect's fled in a light colored four-door sedan, as the car was seen on area video surveillance.

The suspects were wearing dark clothing, gloves, and had their faces concealed.
