Detectives Charge Suspect with Rape and Robbery

For Immediate Release: Thursday, April 27, 2017

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department - Special Victims Investigations Division have arrested and charged Antonio Devon Kamara, age 33, of an unconfirmed address, with the first-degree rape, first-degree assault, and robbery of a 32-year-old female.  Kamara committed these offenses yesterday afternoon on Castle Boulevard.

On Wednesday, April 26 at approximately 2:27 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center (911) received a call from a resident who reported that a woman had flagged him down in the 13800 block of Castle Boulevard and said that she had been raped.

3rd District officers responded to that area of Castle Boulevard and located the victim.  The victim stated to the officers that she had been walking on the sidewalk in that area of Castle Boulevard and was talking on her cell phone when the suspect approached her from behind.  The suspect attempted to talk to her, and she did not respond.  The suspect grabbed the victim from behind, took her cell phone, and pushed the victim into a wooded area off of Castle Boulevard.  The victim began screaming for help and the suspect threatened to kill her if she did not remain quiet.  The suspect then sexually assaulted the victim and stole money from the victim’s purse before fleeing on foot.

The victim provided the suspect’s description to officers.  A 3rd District officer observed an individual, later identified as Kamara, who matched the suspect’s description walking in that area of Castle Boulevard.  The officer attempted to stop Kamara but he fled on foot as the officer approached.

Officers pursued Kamara on foot into a wooded area where he was taken into custody.  The victim positively identified Kamara as the person who had sexually assaulted her.

Kamara was transported to the Central Processing Unit (CPU) and was charged with first-degree rape, second-degree rape, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, robbery, theft less than $100.00, and kidnapping.  Kamara was ordered to be held without bond.
