Juvenile Charged with Silver Spring Stabbing

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating an assault and stabbing of a 14-year-old female by a 14-year-old male that occurred this afternoon near a public bus stop in Silver Spring.

On Thursday, April 27 at approximately 3:11 p.m., 3rd District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the area of East Franklin Avenue at University Boulevard East for an assault and stabbing of a juvenile female by a juvenile male whom the victim knew.

Officers arrived at the scene and located the victim who was suffering from a stab wound.  The suspect had fled from the area on foot.  The victim provided the suspect’s description to officers.  A 3rd District officer observed the suspect walking in the area and took him into custody.  The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim may have been stabbed with a knife.

The 14-year-old suspect is being charged as a juvenile with first-degree assault.   He was released to the custody of his parents.
