Detectives Investigate Commercial Armed Robbery at White Oak Shopping Center; Surveillance Video Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the May 9 armed robbery of the Dollar City & More store in the White Oak Shopping Center.  Today, investigators are releasing  target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">surveillance video of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

On Tuesday, May 9 at approximately 4:30 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the Dollar City & More store located at 11231 New Hampshire Avenue for the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.

The investigation by detectives revealed that the suspect entered the store, selected merchandise from an aisle, and approached a clerk working at a cash register as if to pay for the merchandise.  When the clerk opened the register to complete the transaction, the suspect displayed a handgun and announced the robbery.  The suspect demanded money from the cash register and threatened to harm the clerk if he was not given the money.  The clerk complied with the suspect’s demands.  The suspect placed the money into his jacket pocket and fled from the store on foot toward the area of Lockwood Drive and July Drive.
