Silver Spring Homicide Investigated

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department, Major Crimes Division are investigating the homicide of a 24-year-old male that occurred in Silver Spring early this morning.

On Sunday, May 28, at approximately 2:30 a.m., 3rd District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the Days Inn located at 8040 13th Street for a disturbance in the parking lot. First responders located the victim in his hotel room suffering from life-threatening trauma to his body. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim left his room at approximately 2:30 a.m. Witnesses reported that he was assaulted by a group of suspects in the parking lot. The victim was able to return to his room where police were called.

This remains an active investigation. Additional information will be released as it can be confirmed.
