Special Victims Detectives Investigate Case of Found Child Who Has Been Identified

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, May 30, 2017

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department- Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) have identified a two-year-old "Jane Doe" who was brought to Holy Cross Hospital for medical treatment on Sunday, May 28.  Investigators are working to confirm guardianship of the child.

On May 28, a woman brought the child to Holy Cross Hospital because she believed that the child needed medical care.  She informed hospital personnel that she did not know the identity of the child nor the child's parent(s)/guardian(s). The woman stated that she had been asked by her sister to babysit the unknown child in the sitter's Silver Spring home on the morning of May 27.  When the sitter could not reach or locate her sister, she brought the child to the hospital.  Medical personnel then notified police.

The child was identified through investigative means.

This remains an ongoing investigation and therefore additional details cannot be confirmed at this time.
