Detectives Seek Public’s Help to Identify Suspects in Bethesda Area Stabbing

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, June 7, 2017

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 2nd District Investigative Section continue to investigate the June 4 stabbing of a 23-year-old male that occurred in the 8300 block of Thoreau Drive in the Bethesda area.

On Sunday, June 4 at approximately 1:14 a.m., 2nd District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to Thoreau Drive for the report of a stabbing that had just occurred.  Today, investigators are asking that residents who have home surveillance and who live on Thoreau Drive or surrounding streets review their video.  Investigators are asking any residents who observed any suspicious activity or the suspect’s vehicle, a small, silver colored SUV, on their video during the early morning hours of June 4 to contact detectives.

The investigation by detectives has revealed that at approximately 1:00 a.m., the victim was walking westbound on Wilson Lane between Old Georgetown Road and Bradley Boulevard when the two suspects, described as African American males who are possibly in their 20’s, stopped their small, silver colored SUV and offered the victim a ride.  The victim accepted and the two suspects drove him to a residence on Thoreau Drive.  Once the SUV arrived at the home, the victim exited the vehicle and walked toward the house. The victim stated that as he was walking, the two suspects exited the SUV, punched, kicked, and stabbed him multiple times.  The suspects then fled the area in the vehicle.

Fire and Rescue personnel transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone who has information about the suspects or stabbing is asked to call the 2nd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6710. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
