Detectives Investigate Rape in Gaithersburg; Composite of Suspect Released

For Immediate Release: Saturday, July 29, 2017

Detectives from the Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are investigating the early morning July 26 rape of a 26-year-old female that occurred after she exited a restaurant/bar in Gaithersburg.

On Wednesday, July 26, officers were called to investigate the report of a sexual assault.  SVID detectives spoke with the victim, who reported that at approximately 2:30 a.m., she had exited Quincy's Bar and Grille (616 Quince Orchard Road) in Gaithersburg with a male that she had met in the establishment.  Once outside, the male forced her to a grassy area adjacent to the Quince Orchard Plaza shopping center.  The victim stated that she freed herself from the suspect's grasp as he was forcing her to the field but he was able to reestablish a hold on her.  The suspect then raped the victim.  After the assault, the suspect fled and the victim drove to her home to report the assault to police.

Detectives are releasing a composite sketch of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.  The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 20 to 30 years old, approximately 5' 3" tall, and weighing approximately 200 pounds.  He was wearing glasses and had facial hair.

Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect or who may have information about this rape to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5050.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to their line that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this crime.
