Body of Male Subject Discovered in Silver Spring Park

Detectives with the Montgomery County Police, Major Crimes Division, are investigating a suspicious death after a body was located in a park on Wednesday, September 6.

On Wednesday, September 6 at approximately 11:22 a.m., the Emergency Call Center received a call from a resident who discovered the body of a male subject.  The caller stated that he had been hiking in the woods in the Long Branch Stream Valley Park near 8800 Garland Avenue in Silver Spring, and had discovered a deceased male in a creek.

MCP Homicide investigators responded to the scene as well as members of the Maryland National Capitol Park Police Department.  The victim's body was recovered and transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where an autopsy will be performed.
